Burn container candles until there is ½” of wax left at the bottom
-
Let candle container cool before touching
-
Do not use water to extinguish your candle flame
-
Burn your candle a maximum of 4 hours
The first burn
When lighting your candle for the first time, allow enough burn time (about 1-4 hours) for the entire surface of the candle to melt from edge to edge. Wax has “memory,” and a short first burn will create a rim of hard wax that won’t melt during future burns. This is called tunneling.
If tunneling does occur, wrap a piece of aluminum foil around your burning candle in an upside down cone, leaving a hole at the top. Check every 30 minutes or so to see if wax pool has spread evenly across the top. Moving forward, allow your candle to burn all the way across every time you light it.
Keeping your candle clean
Too long of a wick can cause smoke, too large of flames, or a mushroom-like build up of soot at the end of your wick. Before each burn, trim your wick to around ¼ inch, though not any shorter. Reposition your wick to the center of your candle. A wick trimmer is the best tool for keeping your wick neat and clean.
If your container shows black soot marks, make sure that you are not burning near a draft. You can wash off any soot buildup by wiping the rim of your unlit candle with a wet cloth. Remove any debris that may have gathered in your melt pool.
storing your candle
Proper storage allows your candles to stay fresh and fragrant for longer. Store candles in a cool, dark, and dry place which will maintain wax and fragrance quality. Avoid direct UV light exposure.
extinguishing your candle
Using a snuffer to put out your candle, rather than blowing it out, prevents smoke and keeps your air clean and clear.
